IU prof receives prestigious award to research deltas

Douglas EdmondsAn IU news release about geologist Douglas Edmonds being selected for a prestigious Sloan Research Fellowship generated coverage by the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette. Edmonds will use the award for his research on environmental threats to river deltas, which includes computer modeling that can be done as well from landlocked Bloomington as on the coasts. “The advantage of working with computer models is that we can forecast the impact of devastating events like hurricanes or sea-level rise before the events play out naturally, potentially causing damage and risking lives,” he said.
