Long-vanished voices and sounds resurrected through technology by Indiana University sound media historian Patrick Feaster and a jazz album by IU Jacobs School of Music professor Wayne Wallace’s quintet both drew 2014 Grammy nominations, according to a news release distributed Dec. 11.

The Big Ten Network picked up the story, featuring the news as part of its “LiveBIG” series, which highlights the community of Big Ten students, faculty and alumni who are making a difference in the world through innovations in research, education and community service.

The Indiana Daily Student picked up the story as well, as did The Herald-Times, Indiana Public Media and WBIW.

The Twitter feed for violinist — and IU alum — Joshua Bell even gave the university a shout-out.
